Why This Matters
Animal welfare in China faces unique and urgent challenges. While pet ownership is rising in many cities, there is no national law protecting animals from abuse or neglect. In rural areas, the dog and cat meat trade still exists, and recent investigations—like a 2025 CNN report—have uncovered disturbing online trends of animal cruelty.
Even so, change is happening. Across the country, grassroots animal rescuers—often just individuals—are stepping in to feed, shelter, and care for abandoned pets, often with little or no outside support.

We also support Feline Guardians Without Borders, an organization raising global awareness of cruelty through petitions, public campaigns, and art-based outreach. They’re calling for meaningful reform—including national animal protection laws in China.
While many of these amazing rescuers are unregistered and operate without formal websites, we still want to help where we can. A portion of our profits goes toward supporting their efforts — such as food, shelter, and emergency care. These are informal, volunteer-run efforts that don’t have formal registration or tax-exempt status, so donations are not tax-deductible.
