From Passion to Purpose: How a Childhood Love Became a Family Business

Hi there, welcome to our little studio — SpringCity Dream!
My name is Robin, and I’m not just the proud owner of this cute jade jewelry shop, but also the heart and soul behind every piece you see here.
I've loved art and design since I was a child. I still remember how much fun I had when I was just 7 years old, making different outfits for my Barbies using my mom’s old stockings! My love for painting also started early — My family still talks about how I used to draw bugs on leaves I’d point out to them that they hadn’t noticed. Art has always been something that brings me peace and joy.
Why I started it
Though I’ve always been passionate about art, life led me down a different path. For many years, I worked as a manager in home and event decoration companies. But deep down, I was still searching for a way to bring my artistic side back into my life.
At the same time, after spending over a decade away from home, I started feeling a stronger connection to my roots. My hometown, Yunnan — a breathtaking region full of mountains and lakes in the southwest of China near the border with Myanmar — is often called the Spring City because of its year-round spring-like weather. It’s known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and abundant resources like silver and jade.
I wanted to share the magic of Yunnan with the world —both its treasures and its spirit. That’s when I decided to start creating jade jewelry: a way to combine my artistic passion with the natural beauty of my hometown.
Jewelry Making in Process
How It All Began
While working as a manager for an e-commerce business, I was deeply immersed in learning the ins and outs of online retail and supply chain management. In my spare time, I began designing and making my own jewelry — it started as a creative outlet, a way to bring beauty and tradition together through the timeless elegance of jade.
In 2017, I took a leap and launched my own jade jewelry shop on Etsy. To my surprise and joy, people loved the pieces I created. I poured my heart into every order — from design to packaging — and over the years, I had the honor of serving thousands of happy customers around the world. I became a Star Seller, proudly maintaining a 5-star rating thanks to the kind support and feedback from my customers.
Then, one day, everything changed. Without warning, explanation, or even an email, Etsy permanently suspended my account. I had heard stories of this happening to other small sellers, but I never imagined it would happen to me.
Our New Journey
I’m not here to complain about big platforms or how tough it can be for small businesses — I just want to share how much this journey has meant to me.
Seeing my jewelry travel to over 400 cities around the world, knowing that it became a gift for someone’s loved one — that means the world to me. Just the thought that a little piece of jade from my hometown could cross oceans and mountains to bring a smile to someone’s face… it fills my heart with purpose.
That’s why I’m continuing this journey through SpringCity Dream.

Supporting Local Artisans
We’re launching a new product category: “Art & Soul of Yunnan”, featuring collaborations with local artists and organizations that embody the region’s spirit. One of our proudest partnerships is with a woodcarving workshop that trains and employs people with disabilities — empowering them to create intricate, handcrafted art. It’s an honor to share their creations through our shop.
Giving Back to Animal Rescue
Caring for animals has always been close to my heart. In China, many grassroots rescue efforts work tirelessly without formal support. SpringCity Dream is a true family business. While I often travel for inspiration (and life!), my incredible mother helps me handcraft and ship every order with love and care. Her support helps keep the heart of our shop rooted in home — and I’m endlessly grateful.
